A published rate is the start of the price. The one-page checklist lists what to ask every vendor (size, power, delivery, minimum days, after-hours fees, what happens if the unit fails) and has room to compare three quotes side by side.
How the estimate works
- Daily rate: price times the larger of your days and the vendor's minimum days, when it publishes one.
- Weekly rate: price times whole weeks (days divided by 7, rounded up).
- Monthly rate: price times whole 30-day months, rounded up.
- Fixed-term rental (for example “3 day rental”): a flat price, used only when your days fit inside the term.
- Weekend rate: a flat price, used for 3 days or fewer. This is our assumption of what a weekend covers.
- Hourly rates are never used. Brokers are shown but left out of the low, median and high.
- Each vendor shows its cheapest published way of covering your days. Part days count as whole days.
Rates were checked on October 4, 2026 and are hidden once they are 60 days old. Read the verification rules.
Where the rates come from
Verified vendors, not counting brokers, that publish a rate the calculator can use. Where a metro has none, the calculator says so and shows other metros instead.

Frequently asked questions
Why are so few vendors priced?
Most cold storage rental companies publish no price and quote by phone or form. Only 15 of the verified companies print a refrigerated trailer, freezer trailer or container rate on their own sites, so the calculator can price only those. The coverage table shows how many there are in each metro.
Is the estimate a quote?
No. It applies each vendor's published rates to the days you enter, using the rules listed above. Delivery, fuel, generators, deposits, damage waivers and tax are usually not in a published rate. Use the quote checklist to ask for the full price in writing.
How does it handle a weekly or monthly rate?
Each rate is billed the way it is published: a weekly rate by whole weeks, a monthly rate by whole 30-day months, a daily rate by the day (with the vendor's minimum days if it states one). For each vendor the calculator shows the cheapest of its published rates that covers your days.
