The first hour

  1. Keep the doors shut and write down the time and the temperature you see.
  2. List what is inside and how much of it. That number is what the vendor needs to size a unit.
  3. Find the power at your site: voltage, amps, and how far the nearest outlet is from where a unit would sit.
  4. Call two or three companies from the table and ask each for a delivery time and a full price.
  5. Ask your local health department what to do with product that has warmed. Do not guess.

A page to fill in while you phone: what you need to tell each company, space for three quotes, and the questions that decide the price.

How these claims are collected

Each claim is a short exact quote from the company's own website with the page it came from. We re-read the pages on the date shown and a script re-checks that each quote is still there; a quote that disappears is removed. 2 companies block automated reading, so their claims are the ones recorded when we verified them, marked with that date. Read the verification rules.

Frequently asked questions

Which companies say they can deliver the same day?

19 of the 58 verified companies state same-day or emergency delivery on their own websites: 512 Cold Trailers LLC, Accent Equipment Company, American Refrigeration Rentals, Artic Containers, Chiller Trailer Rental, Cold Ass Trailers, DFW Trailer Systems, Doerr's Trailer Rentals, Frosty Mobile Refrigeration, Just Chillin', Kool Provisions, RefrigeratedRentals.com, Refrigerator For Rent, RSI, Storage In Motion, TEMP-PACK Mobile & Cold Storage, Thermal Trek, Tropical Trailer Leasing, We Rent Cold. The table above quotes each one and links the page. Nothing on this page has been tested; call and ask for a delivery time to your address.

Does emergency delivery cost more?

Some say so. Frosty Mobile Refrigeration: "after hours and weekend delivery rates are higher"; Storage In Motion: "Emergency / after hours delivery fees may apply". Most companies publish nothing about emergency pricing, so ask for the full price including delivery, setup and pickup before you agree.

What do I need to tell the company when I call?

Your delivery address and how the truck gets to the spot, the power you have there (voltage, amps and how far the outlet is from where the unit would sit), how much product you need to store, whether you need cooler or freezer temperatures, and how many days. The printable call sheet has a place for each of these.

My metro is not in the table. What now?

No verified company in Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA states same-day or emergency delivery on its site. That does not mean none can do it: the full list of verified companies for each metro is on the cold storage finder, and a phone call is the only way to find out.
